Seeking General Thoracic Surgeon

The Division of Thoracic Surgery and Interventional Pulmonology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is seeking a general thoracic surgeon. The ideal candidate for this position would have five or more years of experience after completion of fellowship training. They must be board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery. The surgeon will have a primary responsibility of developing a network of community thoracic surgical care in BIDMC-affiliated hospitals in Plymouth and will work in collaboration with other departments to further develop a multidisciplinary cancer center. The surgeon will split their clinical responsibilities between BIDMC and BID-Plymouth, and will work closely with a junior partner in the Division to accomplish this. The preferred candidate will have experience in a broad range of general thoracic surgery, including evaluation and treatment of benign and malignant lung and esophageal conditions, as well as diseases of the airway, mediastinum, chest wall, diaphragm, and pleura.  Advanced skills in endoscopy, thoracoscopy, and laparoscopy are required. Robotic surgical training is an additional qualification, but is not mandatory. The ideal candidate should also possess exceptional teamwork, program development and mentorship abilities. In addition to clinical expertise, teaching ability as evidenced by awards or evaluations is an important qualification.  Research experience and initiative will be also strongly considered. The successful candidate for this position may be considered for Harvard Medical School appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with experience and achievements.
