Job Details

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern and the Bern University Hospital (Inselspital), Switzerland is seeking to fill a

Professorship in Magnetic

Resonance Methodology

(open rank) (formerly Magnetic

Resonance Spectroscopy and

Methodology) to succeed

Professor Chris Boesch

to start on 1 January 2018 or as otherwise agreed.

As part of the reorganization and strengthening of MR research at the University of Bern, we are seeking to fill a newly created Professorship in Magnetic Resonance Methodology. The already established working group for Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy and Methodology (AMSM) will be enhanced in terms of methodology and expanded with regard to the MR infrastructure.

The research group conducts its own research, in particular on MR methodology, and supports its clinical partners at the Inselspital as well as the institutes of the University of Bern in MR research. An attractive technical environment awaits you, where you will be able to play an active part in shaping the expansions.

You are an innovative and visionary person who provides scientific expertise (PhD or MD/PhD) in the field of MR methodology and can fall back on a broad technical background. Expertise in the field of human high-field MR (7 Tesla) is desirable. In addition, you bring extensive knowledge of translational research in an optimal way.

For the management of the MR research group, managerial and executive experience is essential, together with a high capacity for integration. You are also a capable communicator who takes pleasure in networking. It is easy for you to inspire employees as well as clinical and industrial partners to share your visions, and then to implement these visions together.

The habilitation, or an equivalent academic qualification, is required. A flair for teaching and a strong commitment to the promotion of young talent complete your profile. The Faculty of Medicine strives to increase the number of women on the teaching staff and therefore encourages female candidates to apply. In principle, we offer the possibility of job sharing.

For more information, please contact the President of the Selection

Committee, Professor Jan Gralla, Chairman and Head of the

Neuroradiology Department at the Bern University Hospital
