The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine; State University of New York Upstate Medical University anticipates an opening for a full-time Infectious Disease staff physician.


The selected applicant will receive an academic appointment following University committee review and will be appropriate for the level of scholarly and clinical experience and achievement. The Division maintains a diverse mix of in- and out-patient care opportunities within University, private, and Veterans Administration settings. Clinics are maintained and/or are supported for the diagnosis and treatment of HIV, TB, skin and soft tissue wounds, and long term infusion services. The practice supports a fully accredited fellowship with four fellowship positions.


There is a robust academic environment shared with the Department of Pediatrics, clinical microbiology laboratory, and basic science colleagues. Faculty are encouraged to pursue scholarly activities and publish in the peer reviewed across a diverse spectrum of academic pursuits (basic science, clinical practice, quality improvement, education, etc.).


The practice maintains intense focus on antibiotic stewardship and infection control and provides consultation and guidance to the hospitals we serve. Physician responsibilities may include but may not be limited to in- and out-patient infectious disease consultation, caring for people living with HIV, providing clinical guidance for infusion services, participation in antimicrobial stewardship practices, teaching medical students, interns, residents, and fellows in the context of clinical care, and delivering lectures on select infectious disease topics. The practice has a robust portfolio of clinical research associated with federal, state, industry, and academic research missions and funding.

MD/DO or foreign equivalent, BC/BE in Infectious Diseases; New York State license or eligible.
