Clinical Geneticist - Pathology

The Department of Pathology at.the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applications for the position of Clinical Geneticist in the Pathology Department.  This is a non-tenured position offered at the Assistant/Associate Rank, salary to commensurate with qualifications.

The Successful candidate will have interest in emerging approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through detecting, measuring and analyzing individual variations in molecular, genomic, cellular, and clinical data. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous program of high-quality translational research that focuses on innovative approaches, including the integration of multi-omics data across multiple scales for deciphering disease.

  • Candidates must have either an MD or PhD degree, in genetics and/or molecular biology with a minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience in medical genomics research (clinical or translational).
  • Require a proven track record of research experience in the genomics or genetics field in a large academic/research center
  • In-depth experience with DNA and RNA molecular biology studies, next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, use of online databases and in-silico tools
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis of genomic data
  • Analytical with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate significant results and present conclusions from quantifiable criteria
  • Demonstrated scientific writing skills; strong communication and presentation skills
