Job Details

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the nation’s heart charity with a mission to lead the fight for every heartbeat through pioneering cardiovascular research. The BHF was founded in 1961 and is the leading independent funder of cardiovascular research in the UK with annual income in excess of £135 million, an employee base of over 3,700, supported by a further 22,000 volunteers. The lifesaving work of the BHF is primarily advanced through long-term investment in medical research with an aspiration to invest circa £500 million in cardiovascular research over the next five years.

The BHF is looking to appoint an additional Associate Medical Director (Clinical Research) to join its senior research leadership team. Reporting to the Medical Director and working with the two current Associate Medical Directors, you will have specific responsibility for overseeing the scientific review process of applications concerning clinical research, leading a small scientific team with close liaison with the Joint Heads of Research Funds and the administrative team. You’ll be a key contact for researchers seeking advice and guidance on BHF funding.

With the Medical Director and other Associate Medical Directors, you will also develop and lead the delivery of Research Strategy of the BHF, represent the BHF at a senior level in meetings with other research funders and bodies, and act as a spokesperson for the BHF.

The position is available on a part-time basis but not less than 0.6 FTE.

Further information, including details of how to apply, can be downloaded at https://candidates.perrettlaver.com/vacancies/ quoting reference 3451. The closing date for applications is noon GMT on Monday 5th March.
